The Harmar AL100HD is the heavy-duty member of Harmar's AL100 universal scooter hitch-mount lift series, rated for scooters up to 400 lb. Carried on the hitch, the scooter stays out of your cargo area, which Harmar says saves room in the vehicle.

About the Harmar AL100HD Heavy-duty Universal Scooter Lift

Lifting and folding are fully powered, and an automatic hold-down foot with a rear wheel cradle keeps the scooter in place. It takes scooters with a wheelbase of up to 42 inches, with no scooter modifications. The platform is 26 by 39 inches, and its adjustable cradle extends up to 46 inches.

The HD version needs a Class III or greater hitch and comes with the AL123HD class III heavy duty hitch adaptor, the AL107 hitch post and a license plate mount. Harmar lists its installed weight at 84 lb and its compatibility as most minivans, SUVs, trucks and vans. Options include a battery pack, license plate riser, swing-away, scooter cover and the MultiView backup camera.

Common questions

Will this work with my vehicle?

That depends on the vehicle and the equipment. We check compatibility before you order anything, which is exactly the step that goes wrong when it is skipped.

Will it fit in my car?

Ask this at the start rather than after delivery. Folding and travel models go in a trunk. A full-size chair needs a vehicle lift or a conversion, and we do those too.

Do I have to buy a van?

Usually not, and most people assume they do. Hand controls, a lift, or a turning seat solve a great many situations for a fraction of a conversion. Ask before you go vehicle shopping.

Will this affect my vehicle warranty?

Properly fitted equipment from established manufacturers does not generally affect it, though we would not ask you to take our word over your dealer's. We will tell you exactly what we are fitting and how.

Do you service what you sell?

Yes, with our own technicians. The person who comes back is from the same company as the person who installed it.
