It needs no wall mounting or floor anchoring, so caregivers can wheel it between rooms as needs change. Smirthwaite recommends a doorway clearance of at least 43 inches (1100 mm) for moving it. Heavy-duty locking casters carry the frame, and large under-chassis clearance gives access for heavy-duty hoists.

A simple hand control gives smooth, quiet height adjustment at the touch of a button, across a travel range of 21.7 to 36.2 in. A protective skirt prevents contact with the lifting mechanism, and stowaway side rails come with it. Two batteries and a separate wall-mounted mains charger are standard.
