About the Harmar Highlander II Vertical Platform Lift
The Harmar Highlander II vertical platform lift is designed to safely lift you while you remain in your scooter, manual wheelchair or powerchair, with heavy duty lifting for you and your mobility device up to 14 feet. It provides access to decks, porches, garage entry, second story entry and elevation between floors, in residential and commercial applications.
Harmar's Steady Drive uses a high lead ACME screw for a smoother ride, and that gear replaces traditional pulleys, which Harmar says can mean fewer maintenance visits. The Guardian System's four bright LED lights give continual feedback through codes, so you know the lift is ready, how it is operating, if batteries are low or when maintenance is due. SmartSense monitors the motor temperature, cycle count and battery status.
You ride by pressing the Big Blue Paddle, though that feature is not available on three-stop units. An optional ReadyUPS battery backup activates automatically in a power outage and provides a minimum of 5 complete up-down cycles.
The Highlander II carries 750 lb, and platform sizes run from 36 by 48 inches to 42 by 60 inches. The finish is Seal-Kor powder coat with stainless steel hardware for outdoor use. Options include platform and landing gates with interlocks, enclosure kits, fire-rated doors, a fixed or auto-fold ramp and wired or wireless call/send controls.

How The Work Happens
Five steps. You can stop at any of them, and nothing is charged until you have said yes to a written scope.
You tell us what is difficult
Not what product you think you need. The stairs, the front step, the bath, getting into the car. Working out the product is our job.
A call, not a sales pitchWe come out and measure
On site, at your address, free. We check the space, the power, and the structure, and we talk through how the room actually gets used.
Free, and no obligationYou get it in writing
An itemized scope and a price, with the lead time stated honestly. The price you agree to is the price of the job. Take as long as you like with it.
The price does not moveOur technicians install it
Our own people, not a subcontractor, who stay until everyone who has to operate it can operate it confidently.
Our own crewsWe service it afterward
The company that installed it is the company that maintains it. You are not handed to somebody else once the invoice clears.

Common questions
How much space does it need?
Far less than a ramp. ADA guidance calls for twelve inches of ramp run for every inch of rise, so a thirty inch porch wants a thirty foot ramp. Most front yards cannot give that up. A platform lift needs roughly the footprint of the platform itself.
Can I use it with a walker or a rollator rather than a wheelchair?
Yes. The platform is flat with a gate at each end, so you walk or roll straight on. Many of our residential platform lifts are used by people who are unsteady on steps rather than by chair users.
Does it need a pit?
Some configurations do and some do not. The site survey settles it before you are quoted.
Do you handle the permit and inspection?
Yes. This equipment generally requires a licensed installer and an inspection, and we hold that licensing in our own name rather than borrowing it from a subcontractor.
Can it go outdoors?
Yes, with weather-rated equipment: sealed controls, drainage, and a cover. We will not install an indoor unit outside, because it fails within a season.
How long does the whole job take?
Weeks rather than days, and most of that is site preparation and permitting rather than the installation itself. If a concrete pad has to be poured and cured, that is the long pole.
Do you service what you sell?
Yes, with our own technicians. The person who comes back is from the same company as the person who installed it.
