About the Hardrock Chair
The Smirthwaite Hardrock Chair is a durable, robust seat built for children through adults who show repetitive rocking behaviors. It gives moderate postural support and creates a stabilizing environment at school or at home. Smirthwaite describes it as a secure, structured space that minimizes distractions and promotes focus.
Heavy-duty construction is made to stand up to rigorous daily use, continuous movement and high-impact rocking. An anti-thrust seat structure and an anterior pad keep pelvic alignment secure within defined boundaries. For users who move sideways, optional thoracic supports and stabilizers are available.
The standard kit depends on size: sizes 2 and 3 come with adjustable armrests, an anti-thrust cushion, a tray, a buckle pelvic strap with pad and a transporter base of skis with transporter wheels and an integrated footboard. Size 4 has the same armrests, cushion, tray and strap on a mobile base with push handle. Size 5 extends the range to larger teens and adults, with a 331 lb maximum user weight. Each chair arrives fully assembled apart from any special accessories ordered.
Custom Mobility ships the Hardrock across the lower 48. Smirthwaite warrants it against defects in materials and workmanship for 2 years from the date of delivery. Call us to talk through sizing and options.

Common questions
Can I try equipment before buying?
Yes. Come to the showroom in Athens or ask for an in-home evaluation.
Will it fit in my car?
Ask this at the start rather than after delivery. Folding and travel models go in a trunk. A full-size chair needs a vehicle lift or a conversion, and we do those too.
Do you ship outside Georgia?
Yes. Products ship across the lower 48. Installation and service are Georgia.
Do you service what you sell?
Yes, with our own technicians. The person who comes back is from the same company as the person who installed it.
Will you service equipment somebody else installed?
Often, depending on the platform and whether we hold the relationship with that manufacturer. Tell us what you have.
Can I just come to the showroom?
Walk-ins are welcome in Athens, at 315 Whitehead Road. Appointments are better, because it means the right person is there when you arrive.
