About the Bruno VPL-3153/3175 Vertical Platform Lift
A few porch or deck steps can be the hardest part of getting home in a wheelchair. Bruno platform lifts, often called wheelchair lifts or vertical platform lifts, give mobility scooter and powerchair users an alternative to navigating entryway or deck steps, and the Bruno VPL-3153 and VPL-3175 are Bruno's residential models.
Both have a 750 lb rated load for 1 passenger with a mobility device. The VPL-3153 covers 11” to 53” floor to floor, and the VPL-3175 covers 28” to 75”. Choose the AC-powered versions, or the VPL-3153B and VPL-3175B, which run on batteries. Bruno says the battery option will continue to work in a power outage and provide several round trips without recharging.
As the lift travels upward, the platform ramp folds to stop a mobility device from rolling backward; it is a 16” self-lowering ramp. Standard controls are up and down rocker switch or paddle controls with a key switch, plus a red emergency stop switch. Options include a platform gate, a landing gate, a landing call/send station, a platform gate operator and a power assisted operator.
The lift can be installed indoors or outdoors and is made in the USA. Bruno lists a concrete pad as required for a proper approach, and electricity may need to be run to the lift or its battery charger.

How The Work Happens
Five steps. You can stop at any of them, and nothing is charged until you have said yes to a written scope.
You tell us what is difficult
Not what product you think you need. The stairs, the front step, the bath, getting into the car. Working out the product is our job.

Common questions
How much space does it need?
Far less than a ramp. ADA guidance calls for twelve inches of ramp run for every inch of rise, so a thirty inch porch wants a thirty foot ramp. Most front yards cannot give that up. A platform lift needs roughly the footprint of the platform itself.
Can I use it with a walker or a rollator rather than a wheelchair?
Yes. The platform is flat with a gate at each end, so you walk or roll straight on. Many of our residential platform lifts are used by people who are unsteady on steps rather than by chair users.
Does it need a pit?
Some configurations do and some do not. The site survey settles it before you are quoted.
Do you handle the permit and inspection?
Yes. This equipment generally requires a licensed installer and an inspection, and we hold that licensing in our own name rather than borrowing it from a subcontractor.
Can it go outdoors?
Yes, with weather-rated equipment: sealed controls, drainage, and a cover. We will not install an indoor unit outside, because it fails within a season.
How long does the whole job take?
Weeks rather than days, and most of that is site preparation and permitting rather than the installation itself. If a concrete pad has to be poured and cured, that is the long pole.
Do you service what you sell?
Yes, with our own technicians. The person who comes back is from the same company as the person who installed it.
