About the Asiento

Accessories attach to the seat's strong central column, which Smirthwaite says makes the chair robust and sturdy. The quiet electric hi-lo base raises and lowers the chair smoothly with a user-operated remote control, and its low noise suits people who are sensitive to sound. An optional dynamic back is pressure adjustable for the amount of movement wanted, for users who need sensory and physical feedback while sitting. The open chassis and pushbike-style handles let caregivers get close to the backrest.

Standard features listed by Smirthwaite include a Bodypoint harness, a lap strap and the electric hi-lo base. Size 3 joins Smirthwaite's Plus range, a selection of products for plus sized individuals in school and home environments. The user manual sets the maximum weight at 80 kg for sizes 1 and 2 and 120 kg for size 3. Smirthwaite stresses that the chair must be correctly fitted, and its customer support team and technical product advisors work with you on it.

Custom Mobility ships the Asiento across the lower 48. Smirthwaite's US warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for 2 years from the date of delivery. Talk to us about sizing before you order.

Common questions

Can I try equipment before buying?

Yes. Come to the showroom in Athens or ask for an in-home evaluation.

Will it fit in my car?

Ask this at the start rather than after delivery. Folding and travel models go in a trunk. A full-size chair needs a vehicle lift or a conversion, and we do those too.

Do you ship outside Georgia?

Yes. Products ship across the lower 48. Installation and service are Georgia.

Do you service what you sell?

Yes, with our own technicians. The person who comes back is from the same company as the person who installed it.

Will you service equipment somebody else installed?

Often, depending on the platform and whether we hold the relationship with that manufacturer. Tell us what you have.

Can I just come to the showroom?

Walk-ins are welcome in Athens, at 315 Whitehead Road. Appointments are better, because it means the right person is there when you arrive.
