About the MPS Left Foot Accelerator
The MPS Left Foot Accelerator is intended for those who need to operate the accelerator with their left foot. The pedal is located to the left of the brake pedal and is mechanically linked to the vehicle's original accelerator pedal.
It comes with a Pedal Guard, which shields the original accelerator pedal in order to prevent use of it. That way the original pedal is out of use while the left foot does the work.
Sharing the car with other drivers? The accelerator sits on a Quick Release Base, and its Quick Release function makes removal easy when it is not needed by other drivers. MPS also notes it can be installed quickly through its dealer network.
Thinking about your next car? In most cases this device can be transferred to your new vehicle by a qualified mobility professional.
Before attempting to drive with this or any other driving aid, MPS says it is essential that you are evaluated by a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS). Based on the evaluation results, the CDRS or DRS will determine if any adaptive driving equipment is needed.
MPS was incorporated in 1964, left foot accelerators are among the driving aids it has designed and manufactured, and its catalog says Made in the USA since 1964. All MPS products are covered by a 5 year limited warranty. Custom Mobility installs driving controls in Georgia with its own technicians, and installation and service are in Georgia.
How The Work Happens
Five steps. You can stop at any of them, and nothing is charged until you have said yes to a written scope.
You tell us what is difficult
Not what product you think you need. The stairs, the front step, the bath, getting into the car. Working out the product is our job.
A call, not a sales pitchWe come out and measure
On site, at your address, free. We check the space, the power, and the structure, and we talk through how the room actually gets used.
Free, and no obligationYou get it in writing
An itemized scope and a price, with the lead time stated honestly. The price you agree to is the price of the job. Take as long as you like with it.
The price does not moveOur technicians install it
Our own people, not a subcontractor, who stay until everyone who has to operate it can operate it confidently.
Our own crewsWe service it afterward
The company that installed it is the company that maintains it. You are not handed to somebody else once the invoice clears.

Common questions
Do I have to buy a van?
Usually not, and most people assume they do. Hand controls, a lift, or a turning seat solve a great many situations for a fraction of a conversion. Ask before you go vehicle shopping.
Will this work with my vehicle?
That depends on the vehicle and the equipment. We check compatibility before you order anything, which is exactly the step that goes wrong when it is skipped.
Do I need an evaluation before driving aids are installed?
For most adaptive driving equipment, yes. A driver rehabilitation specialist evaluation determines what suits you, and we install to that prescription.
What is a turny seat?
A powered seat base that rotates out of the vehicle and lowers, so someone can sit down outside the door frame and be brought in, instead of transferring across a threshold.
Will my wife still be able to drive the car?
Yes, in almost every case. Hand controls and left foot accelerators are designed so the vehicle drives normally for everybody else, and most are removable.
Will this affect my vehicle warranty?
Properly fitted equipment from established manufacturers does not generally affect it, though we would not ask you to take our word over your dealer's. We will tell you exactly what we are fitting and how.
