About the MPS Electronic Monarch Hand Controls
MPS Electronic Monarch hand controls combine electronic acceleration with mechanical braking. MPS describes the design as sleek and compact, built for comfortable and smooth operation when braking and applying the accelerator.
Pick the handle motion that suits you: the electronic control is available in all styles, Right Angle, Push-Rock and Push-Pull, left or right handed. It attaches to the existing MPS mounting system.
Then there is the 50% switch, which MPS puts on every MPS electronic hand control. The 50% switch reduces the sensitivity of the accelerator, so you can apply the accelerator more precisely when just a little acceleration is needed. MPS names the model the Monarch Mark 1A Electronic Hand Control with 50% Switch and Intent Switch.
Behind it is a long history in driving aids. MPS was incorporated in 1964, and since its 2017 partnership it has been the sole distributor of Guidosimplex products in the United States and Canada; MPS describes the electronic versions of its Monarch line as incorporating Guidosimplex technology.
A driving evaluation comes first. MPS states that it is essential to be evaluated by a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) before attempting to drive with any driving aid, and the evaluator determines whether adaptive driving equipment is needed. MPS also states that all MPS products are covered by a 5 year limited warranty.

How The Work Happens
Five steps. You can stop at any of them, and nothing is charged until you have said yes to a written scope.
You tell us what is difficult
Not what product you think you need. The stairs, the front step, the bath, getting into the car. Working out the product is our job.
A call, not a sales pitchWe come out and measure
On site, at your address, free. We check the space, the power, and the structure, and we talk through how the room actually gets used.
Free, and no obligationYou get it in writing
An itemized scope and a price, with the lead time stated honestly. The price you agree to is the price of the job. Take as long as you like with it.
The price does not moveOur technicians install it
Our own people, not a subcontractor, who stay until everyone who has to operate it can operate it confidently.
Our own crewsWe service it afterward
The company that installed it is the company that maintains it. You are not handed to somebody else once the invoice clears.

Common questions
Do I have to buy a van?
Usually not, and most people assume they do. Hand controls, a lift, or a turning seat solve a great many situations for a fraction of a conversion. Ask before you go vehicle shopping.
Will this work with my vehicle?
That depends on the vehicle and the equipment. We check compatibility before you order anything, which is exactly the step that goes wrong when it is skipped.
Do I need an evaluation before driving aids are installed?
For most adaptive driving equipment, yes. A driver rehabilitation specialist evaluation determines what suits you, and we install to that prescription.
What is a turny seat?
A powered seat base that rotates out of the vehicle and lowers, so someone can sit down outside the door frame and be brought in, instead of transferring across a threshold.
Will my wife still be able to drive the car?
Yes, in almost every case. Hand controls and left foot accelerators are designed so the vehicle drives normally for everybody else, and most are removable.
Will this affect my vehicle warranty?
Properly fitted equipment from established manufacturers does not generally affect it, though we would not ask you to take our word over your dealer's. We will tell you exactly what we are fitting and how.
