About the Harmar AL580-HDX High Capacity Lift for Large Mid-Wheel Power Wheelchairs

The platform gives 27 inches of usable width on a 23 by 33 inch footprint. Four Q'Straint retractors plus a padded hold-down arm secure the chair, and wheel cradles help position it. Lifting and folding are fully powered.

This is a hitch-mounted lift, rated for a Class III or greater hitch, with an installed weight of 92 lb. Harmar lists it as compatible with a variety of SUVs, trucks and crossovers, and asks you to confirm your car's compatibility with your Harmar dealer. Options include a battery pack, a wheelchair cover, a license plate riser and a swing-away.

Because the chair rides on the outside rear of the vehicle, the cargo area stays free for everything else. Common questions

Will this work with my vehicle?

That depends on the vehicle and the equipment. We check compatibility before you order anything, which is exactly the step that goes wrong when it is skipped.

Will it fit in my car?

Ask this at the start rather than after delivery. Folding and travel models go in a trunk. A full-size chair needs a vehicle lift or a conversion, and we do those too.

Do I have to buy a van?

Usually not, and most people assume they do. Hand controls, a lift, or a turning seat solve a great many situations for a fraction of a conversion. Ask before you go vehicle shopping.

Will this affect my vehicle warranty?

Properly fitted equipment from established manufacturers does not generally affect it, though we would not ask you to take our word over your dealer's. We will tell you exactly what we are fitting and how.

Do you service what you sell?

Yes, with our own technicians. The person who comes back is from the same company as the person who installed it.
