Platform lifts are designed for full-size vans, converted minivans, and transit vehicles. The van body style, floor height, and interior layout all determine which platform lift models are compatible. We work with BraunAbility, Ricon/VMI, and Maxon to match the right lift to your specific van.

Platform lifts can be installed for side-door or rear-door entry. Side-entry lifts are the most common for personal use and allow curbside boarding. Rear-entry lifts are popular for commercial and transit applications. Your choice depends on your vehicle layout, parking environment, and operational needs.

Platform lifts typically support 400 to 800 lbs, accommodating full-size power wheelchairs and their occupants. Commercial models can exceed 1,000 lbs. Always factor in the combined weight of the wheelchair, passenger, and any accessories when selecting a platform lift.

If your platform lift is for a commercial vehicle, transit bus, or paratransit van, it must meet ADA accessibility standards. This includes platform dimensions, control placement, safety barriers, and operational speed. All BraunAbility, Ricon, and Maxon platform lifts are available in ADA-compliant configurations.
