Clearway
The Ricon/VMI Clearway is a fully automatic split-platform lift that folds vertically to provide completely unobstructed access through the vehicle doorway when stowed. The split platform design divides the platform into two sections that fold inward against the door frame, creating a clear passageway for ambulatory passengers.
The Clearway supports 600 to 800 lbs with an all-steel frame and handrails for secure boarding. The 51-inch platform fits in a standard 48-inch door opening. Pre-lubricated bearings reduce maintenance needs, and a built-in manual backup ensures operation during power outages.
The unobstructed doorway is the Clearway's primary advantage. In vehicles that carry both wheelchair users and ambulatory passengers, the Clearway eliminates the need to step over or around a stowed platform to enter or exit the vehicle. This makes the Clearway especially popular in paratransit vehicles and family vans where multiple passengers board through the same door.
Custom Mobility's Ricon-certified technicians install the Clearway with attention to door clearance, split-platform alignment, and automatic deployment calibration. Installation includes hydraulic integration, safety testing, and operator training on both powered and manual backup modes.
