Exterior lifts require a hitch receiver — typically Class II (1-1/4") or Class III (2"). The hitch class determines the maximum tongue weight your vehicle can safely support. If you don't have a hitch, we can install one as part of your lift package. Our team verifies your hitch rating before recommending any lift.

Hitch-mounted lifts typically support 200 to 400 lbs. You need to know the exact weight of your mobility device — including batteries, baskets, and accessories. Always choose a lift rated above your device's total weight to ensure safe, reliable operation over the life of the lift.

Not every lift fits every vehicle. Factors like bumper clearance, exhaust routing, spare tire location, and rear sensor placement all matter. Exterior lifts keep your device outside the vehicle, which means exposure to rain, road spray, and UV. Many lifts include weather-resistant coatings and optional protective covers. If year-round weather protection is a priority, consider an interior trunk lift as an alternative.

Most hitch-mounted lifts are fully powered — just drive your device onto the platform, press a button, and the lift raises and secures it. Look for features like automatic hold-downs, one-touch operation, and low platform entry heights. We demonstrate full operation during every installation.
