Exterior lifts require a hitch receiver — typically Class II (1-1/4") or Class III (2"). The hitch class determines the maximum tongue weight your vehicle can safely support. Hitch-mounted lifts typically support 200 to 400 lbs. You need to know the exact weight of your mobility device — including batteries, baskets, and accessories. Always choose a lift rated above your device's total weight to ensure safe, reliable operation over the life of the lift.
