AL001 Universal Carrier
The Harmar AL001 Universal Carrier is a simple, cost-effective, fully manual outside carrier with an oversized platform that transports virtually any scooter, manual wheelchair, or power wheelchair without modifications to the chair. With a 500 lb weight capacity — the highest in the Harmar exterior lineup — the AL001 handles heavy-duty power wheelchairs and bariatric scooters that exceed the limits of most powered lifts.
The AL001 features a 28-inch by 48-inch steel platform with a 60-inch folding ramp for easy loading and unloading. Because it operates entirely manually with no electrical components, the AL001 is the most straightforward lift to install and maintain. There are no motors, wires, or batteries to service — just a solid, reliable carrier that gets the job done.
The carrier requires a Class II or Class III hitch receiver and weighs approximately 70 to 84 lbs depending on configuration. The folding ramp stows flat against the platform during transit, and the entire unit can be removed from the hitch when not in use.
Custom Mobility installs the AL001 at our auto service center or on-site. Installation is typically completed in under two hours and includes hitch verification, carrier mounting, ramp adjustment, and a demonstration of proper loading technique.
